Red Cloud, Nebraska
Beverly Jane Ost was born on February 4, 1937 in San Bernardino, California to Lenora (Thurman) and James Hunter. She died on March 14, 2026 in Franklin, Nebraska at Stonebridge Suites Assisted Living.
Beverly was raised in California until age 9 when she moved to Inavale, Nebraska with her mom, stepfather, John James Harvey, and sister Joanna.
She attended school in Inavale establishing lifelong friendships.
Beverly met a young man named Floyd “Pete” Strickland whom she married and to that union brought six children, Thomas, Ronald, Cynthia, Janet, Frank, and Sandra. They raised their family on a dairy farm south of Inavale. The marriage later dissolved. Beverly enjoyed the farm life and her dairy cows. She adored animals her whole life, whether it was a cat, dog or raccoon.
Beverly was remarried to Emerald Ost and they resided in Hastings, Nebraska. In 1984, she became a real estate agent working in Hastings. She traveled to many countries abroad with Emerald’s job. They enjoyed their years residing in England. In the early 90’s they returned to Hastings to continue their real estate business. Beverly took great pride being a realtor. She developed many long-lasting friendships with clients.
When Beverly decided to “retire” from the real estate business she kept herself busy tending to her garden and roses. She loved spending time with her family and attending grandchildren’s milestone celebrations with them. Being “Grammy” to her grands and great grands was very special. There wasn’t a baby she couldn’t calm rocking on her lap.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, both husbands, her sister and brother in-law, Joanna (LeeRoy) Hansen, and daughter in- law, Tammie Strickland.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas (Laura) of Fort Wayne, IN, Ronald (Annie) of Franklin, NE, Cynthia Eckhardt of Seward, NE, Janet (Jim) Jensen of Holdrege, NE, Frank Strickland, Sr. of Stanford, NE, Sandra (Jim) Urbina of Franklin, NE; step brother, Jim Harvey (Sari) of Phillips, NE; grandchildren, Morgan, Chelsea, Ian, Ronald, Donna, Shari, Hope, Benjamin, Jennifer, Jessica, Jimmy, April, Frank, Jr., Ashley, Sarah, and Nathan; 50 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her special friend, Ida “Timmie” Marick.
