Bill Beezley

–

Red Cloud, Nebraska

Bill was born on July 23, 1930, to Hubert and Lucille (Nelson) Beezley, in Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life on September 16, 2025, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska.

He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1947 and served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, working as a radarman on different ships during the Korean War, including the USS Cabildo and the USS Henrico. After his time of service, he returned to Red Cloud where he married his wife Elaine on March 13, 1955. He worked in trucking and soon started farming in northern Kansas, the Guide Rock area, and eventually they settled on a farm near Riverton, NE. In 1970 they moved to their farm south of Red Cloud, and Bill farmed there until his retirement in 2005 when they moved into a house in Red Cloud. While farming, Bill was also a long time salesman for Pioneer Seed of over 40 years, and greatly enjoyed visiting with his customers, and really served as a mentor for many young farmers in that role.

In 2017, Bill and Elaine moved to an independent living apartment at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, where he enjoyed participating in all of the social activities offered. He made many friends there and really enjoyed zipping around in his golf cart to his card playing, pool playing, shuffleboard and cornhole playing activities. His greatest enjoyment was his grandkids. He was still very active in his great grandchildren's lives in Hastings and treasured their weekly visits.

Bill was a member of the Red Cloud School Board, served as President of the Congregation and as an Elder for Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud for several years, and was a member of the Riverton Legion #328 and lifetime member for 55 consecutive years. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1346.

Bill is survived by his wife Elaine of 70 years. He was preceded in death by three infant children, his parents Hubert and Lucille Beezley, and one brother Donald. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Elaine, his daughter and son-in-law Kara and Ross Parde of Hastings and grandchildren Danielle and Jake Wolf of Chicago, great granddaughter Lucy of Chicago, grandson Ryan Parde of Kansas City, son James and daughter-in-law Kerry of Crete, NE, grandchildren Patrick Beezley (Courtney Koch) of Elkhorn, Paige and Jake Schwartz of Hastings, and great grandchildren Joshua, Elijah, Amelia and Tommy Schwartz of Hastings, step grandchildren Jeff and Erin Craven of Columbus and step great grandchildren Connor and Chloe Craven, Amanda and Steve Madewell of Eugene, OR, and step great grandson James Madewell, and Christopher and Jennifer Craven of Crete, step great granddaughter Tamzin Craven.
