Corey Brennfoerder

–

Edgar, Nebraska

Corey Brian Brennfoerder was born April 19, 1960, to Ron and Carolyn (Holroyd) Brennfoerder, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. He departed this life June 21, 2024, at CHI Health Center in Grand Island, Nebraska after a battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters Candice (BJ) Tallent, Alicia Beeson, step-daughters Ashley Shuck and Courtney Shuck; grandchildren Kasadie, Liberty, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Ashalyne, Cash and Corey; great grandchildren Jaxon and Kyndall, his father, Ron Brennfoerder; brothers Craig (Jennifer), Curt (Charizo) and sister Pam Hoelting and many other friends and family.

Corey attended country school west of Edgar, the Edgar elementary and graduated with the class of 1978 at Sandy Creek High School. He was confirmed at the Edgar Lutheran Church. He continued his formal education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for one year before moving to Rushville, Nebraska to work on his aunt and uncle's ranch. In the mid 1980's Corey returned to Edgar where he worked, farmed, raised cattle and later worked for Shuck Engineering as a heavy equipment operator for 16 years.

In 2002, Corey began dating Jackie Shuck and they built a life together as a family for 22 years. Corey and Jackie were married July 1, 2017, at the Nebraska State Capitol Rotunda in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Corey was known for being a good-hearted man with a big smile, a good friend and always willing to help out his family and friends. He enjoyed having a good time and getting together with all the people in his life. Some of his favorite things to do were watching football and playing in fantasy football leagues and, of course, watching Nebraska Cornhusker sports. Hunting deer was a favorite time of year, as was pheasant hunting with his grandsons in Kansas. He enjoyed attending all of his granddaughters' sporting events as he could through the years.

Corey and Jackie enjoyed traveling together across the United States and trips to the Caribbean and Mexico. Corey's style of travel was road tripping and stopping in little towns for a beer and a burger. He liked driving the open roads and preferred to have Jackie do the city driving even though sometimes he felt like it was scarier having her behind the wheel in the traffic than him.

Some of his favorite times were spent in Arizona, where he learned that there is so much more to that state than just Phoenix and he liked to joke that he had seen every Saguaro cactus on the earth. Another favorite place was spending time in Thermopolis, Wyoming along the Wind River hiking, rock hounding, climbing the hills, rafting and some very memorable times spent night sledding there last year.

Corey will be missed by many, especially the ones who loved him the most. We know that he will always be with us in our hearts!

Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar with the Rev. David King officiating. Interment will be at the Edgar Cemetery.
