Red Cloud, Nebraska
Cynthia Mae Hobbs, daughter of Virgil and Karen (Yost) Rose, was born June 26, 1964, in Hastings, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at her residence at the age of 61 years.
Cindy was baptized on October 25, 1964, at Oak Creek Presbyterian Church at Rosemont, Nebraska. She later was confirmed and joined Cowles United Methodist Church on October 31, 1976. She attended Guide Rock schools before moving to the Red Cloud district, where she graduated from Red Cloud High School with the Class of 1982. She continued her education at Central Community College–Kearney, where she earned her LPN, and later received her RN degree from St. Mary’s College of Nursing. Later in life, Cindy returned to school and attended Methodist College in Omaha, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Cindy grew up on the family farm, where she helped with daily chores and developed a lifelong love for animals. She was active in 4-H and attended Sunday school, values that remained important to her throughout her life.
On April 20, 1985, Cindy was united in marriage to Ulayn Edward Hobbs in Red Cloud, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children—three sons and one daughter: Nicholas, Kelsey, Benjamin, and Lucas. They made their home in Red Cloud, where Cindy devoted her life not only to her family, but also to caring for others through her work in the healthcare field.
Cindy will be remembered for her compassionate heart and selfless spirit. Her patients deeply loved her and often spoke of the kindness, comfort, and dignity she brought to their lives. Caring for others was more than a profession to Cindy—it was her calling. She had a special love for children and took great joy in spoiling them whenever she could. A dedicated and hardworking provider.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ulayn; her in-laws; and her sister-in-law, Helen Webber.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Nicholas Hobbs and wife Julie of East Alton, Illinois; Kelsey Nemeth and husband Joshua of Auburndale, Florida; Benjamin Hobbs of Red Cloud, Nebraska; and Lucas Hobbs and wife Di of Olathe, Kansas; two grandsons, Leo and Emmett Hobbs; her brother, David Rose and wife Renee; her sister, Susan Nielsen van Reizig and husband Reinhardt; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
