Emma J. Skinner

Emma Jane Skinner, 86, of Edgar, Nebraska departed this life on January 3, 2025 at The Heritage at College View in Hastings, NE.

Emma Jane (Ashby) Skinner was born on August 12, 1938 in Longdale, Oklahoma to John Edward and Daisy D. (Percy) Ashby. After graduating from Longdale High School in 1956, she moved to Nebraska where she met Duane Skinner. They were united in marriage on December 21, 1957 and blessed with the birth of four children: Gary, Gaila, Eddie, and Kimberly. Duane and Emma lived and farmed south of Edgar until moving into Edgar in 1979. She spent her years taking care of her family, gardening, canning, cooking, and baking. Her door was always open, and her table was always full. They spent 50 years together until Duane's passing in 2008. Emma later moved to Hastings, NE in 2009.

Emma loved her family deeply and was a dear friend to many. A few of her favorite hobbies were sewing blankets and other projects, shopping, and traveling. She loved to have card parties with her friends, spend time with family, and attend her children's and grandchildren's activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Daisy Ashby; son Gary; husband Duane; siblings Almeta, Allen, Jean, Percy, Dennis.

-Granddaughter Amy Horst and Kris Rusch, great grandsons Anders and Arlo

-Granddaughter Abby Schendt and husband Travis, great granddaughters Olivia, Ava, and Chloe

-Grandson Patrick Skinner and wife Kendra, great granddaughters Emily and Molly

Daughter Kim Harms and husband Dan of Glenvil

-Granddaughter Danielle Fellows and husband Aarin, great grandchildren Landon, Emmalyn, Nora, and Henry

-Granddaughter Ashlee Harms

Funeral services were Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar with Rev. David King officiating. Interment was at the Edgar Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
