Ervin G. "Sam" Price Obituary (1926

Ervin G. "Sam"Price the son of Orville and Mable (Cook) Price was born January 26, 1926 in Nuckolls County, Nebraska near Deweese. He departed this life on Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 90 years. Sam started grade school in Nuckolls County and graduated from Deweese High School with the class of 1943. Sam went to work for the Harry Mills family in 1945 at Edgar, NE. In 1946 Sam had the opportunity to go to Wyoming with Harry Mills and Leonard Nelson to buy two carloads of wild horses that were rounded up on the range 100 miles north of Rock Springs WY. They brought the horses back to the Mills' farm. Sam was involveded in breaking them out for public sale. Sam worked for area farmers and farmed for 10 years in the Edgar and Deweese area. He spent time helping with Boy Scouts and the boys baseball program. Sam was united in marriage to Ramona Heinrichs on November 21, 1947 at Hastings, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of one son. In 1965 Sam moved his family to Harvard, NE. There he managed the airfield for the Nebraska State Department of Aeronautics. Sam retired in 1988 and they moved back to Edgar. In retirement, Sam volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels. He spent may hours fishing and gave away the fish that he caught. Sam enjoyed playing card, sharing stories and jokes and visiting his son Jerry and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Ramona; four sisters Clara, Ora, Ruby and Pauline; 3 brothers Everett, Vernon and Willard and a nephew Bob. Survivors include his son Jerry Price and wife Donita of Snohomish, WA and a granddaughter Brandy Cummins and husband Brad of Bothell, WA, twin great granddaughters: Abie and Jordyn; other relatives and his many friends. Memorial services were Wednesday 10:30 a.m., July 13, 2016 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar with Pastor Kathryn Bates officiating. Inurnment was at the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE.
