Latesia M Peaslee Obituary (1923

Latesia M. Holbert Peaslee was born at home in Starlight, PA on April 27, 1923 to LuVern Kenneth and Pearl Henrietta Schmitz Holbert and passed from this earth on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 3:20 a.m. at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska surrounded by her family. Tete as she was called by all those who knew and loved her graduated from Hancock High School in Hancock, NY in 1941. She married Loren Alfred Peaslee on February 20, 1942 in Binghamton, NY. Out of this union were born three children; Jackilyn H., Alden LuVern "Bucky", and Constance J. Peaslee. They made their home in Sydney, NY. Tete worked for Scintilla, a military aircraft manufacturing plant while her husband was away in the war. She later owned and operated a taxi-cab business along side her husband for several years before moving to Wyandotte, MI where her husband was VP and General Manager of the Marine and Industrial engine division at Chrysler Corporation. It was during this time that she and Loren also opened their own business, VIP-V Industrial Power, marketing and selling irrigation power engines. In 1971, Tete and Loren moved to Hastings, NE to operate Industrial Irrigation for Charlie Osborn. She always said that she loved the house in Hastings better than any other place she had ever lived. In 1973 they moved again, this time to the west coast to work for Champ Corporation. Tete was the administrative assistant to the president. They lived in California until 1984 when they retired and moved back to Nebraska, this time settling in Edgar. Tete loved sports and was a member of several bowling teams throughout the years. She was an avid Rusty Wallace and Tiger Woods fan and would spend Sunday afternoon's switching from NASCAR to golf. Football was a great passion of Tete's and she never missed watching a Nebraska Cornhuskers game. She was preceded in death by her father LuVern Kenneth Holbert in 1948 and her mother, Pearl H. Cole in 1992, a son, Alden LuVern "Bucky", a step-father, George Cole in 1977, her husband, Loren A. Peaslee, in 1991, one son-in-law Kenneth Kuykendall in 1986, two grandchildren, Kendra Joy Kuykendall in 1974 and Christopher Michael "Kit" Kuykendall in 2001 and one brother, LuVern Kenneth Holbert Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Jacki Kuykendall of Edgar, NE and Connie and husband Ronnie Duncan of Edgar, NE, two grandchildren, Theodore Wayne "Ted" Kuykendall of Carnegie, OK and Lynda and husband Jerry Walters of Carnegie, OK six great-grandchildren; Taryn and Jera Beth Walters, of Carnegie, OK and Anna Lisa, T.J., Victoria and Kenny Kuykendall of McAllen, TX. Memorial services will be held this Saturday 11:00 am March 29, 2008 at the Edgar Christian Church. Pastor David King will be officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
