Lorna Maude Hudiburgh McCutcheon Wilton
July 10, 1932 - September 27, 2025
On Saturday, September 27, Lorna Maude Hudiburgh-McCutcheon-Wilton, age 93, of rural Jewell County, passed away while surrounded by her beloved family, having gone home to be with the Lord.
Born on July 10, 1932, in North Branch, Kansas, to Gail Hudiburgh and Ellen McNichols-Hudiburgh, Lorna grew up on a small family farm that has now been carried on for seven generations. She attended three different country schools in Jewell County, Kansas, and later graduated from Superior High School. She then attended George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.
Once she returned home in 1952, Lorna married Richard (Dick) McCutcheon of Superior, Nebraska. Born to this union were daughter Wendyl (Wendy) McCutcheon-Harris of northern Jewell County, Kansas, son Terry McCutcheon of Burr Oak, Kansas, and an infant son. Lorna was able to see multiple parts of the country while joining Richard as he worked as a lineman.
Lorna held many jobs over the years, all of which reflected her kindhearted and giving personality. She taught both Sunday school and country school, worked cattle, farmed, worked as a bookkeeper at Superior Livestock, and started her own bookkeeping and income tax business.
In 1983, Lorna married Harold Wilton of Superior and gained a step-son, Steve Wilton of Superior. Lorna and Harold could be found playing pinochle with their family or friends at home or in Texas, where they enjoyed their winters.
Lorna was a devout Christian and attended the Baptist church in Superior. She enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards, watching the birds in her yard, and traveling. She loved riding side by sides with her family and had visited every state except for Maine.
Family was at the center of her life, and she made sure everyone knew it. She loved every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild deeply. She taught them the importance of love, patience, grace, and faith. Lorna always spoke highly of her family to anyone who would listen.
Lorna is survived by her daughter, Wendyl (Wendy) Harris of northern Jewell County, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Janice McCutcheon of Burr Oak, Kansas; granddaughters Kimberly Harris-Niedfeldt (Chris), JennaLee Harris, and Krystal McCutcheon-Wulf (Chad); grandsons David Harris, Shane McCutcheon, and Justin McCutcheon (Meggie); and great-grandchildren Jordan, Shelby, Payton, Preston, James, Jazmyn, Colton, Isabel, Rylan, Chase, Harlee, and Kendall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gail Hudiburgh and Ellen McNichols-Hudiburgh; her son, Terry McCutcheon; a sister, Karen Price; her brother, Wendell Hudiburgh; Richard (Dick) McCutcheon, Harold Wilton; and her infant son.
Her memory lives on in the many hearts she touched, the lives she changed, and the love that she spread throughout her family.
Funeral service was October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Nazarene Church in Burr Oak with Jeff Ord and Pastor Jon Albrecht officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
