Mary Jane Reibold

Mary Jane Reibold, 80, died November 22, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska. She was the sixth child born to George and Berniece (Delka) McCartney on April 26, 1943, in the Logan Township, Smith County, Kansas.

She received her formal education attending the oriole country school in Smith County through the 8th grade and graduated from the Red Cloud High School with the class of 1961. Mary Jane lived for several years in Colorado, working in various jobs including a bean factory and custodian in the school system. She was united in marriage with Wilbur D. Reibold on July 18, 1963. Wilbur died in 1989, and shortly thereafter she moved back to Red Cloud to make her home.

Mary was active in the Red Cloud United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She spent her few last months as a resident of Edgewood Home in Hastings, Nebraska.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Wilbur; brothers, Paul Edward, Robert, Lloyd, Darrel and Donald McCartney; sister-in-law, Ruth McCartney and a niece, Joan McCartney.

Survivors include her sister, Linda Biltoft and husband, John, of Oak, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann McCartney of Hastings, Nebraska; Donna McCartney of Inland, Nebraska and Barbara McCartney of Nelson, Nebraska; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorial services will be Thursday, 11:00 am, November 30, 2023, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dale Thiele officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Smith County, Kansas.
