Moniema G. Niemeyer Obituary (2010)

Moniema G. Niemeyer, 74, of Bladen, Nebraska passed away at her home on Thursday, March 25, 2010. Funeral services were held Monday, 10:30 a.m., March 29, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Rev. Joshua Lowe and Rev. James Witt officiating. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery in Bladen. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Childrens' Home Society, Harvest Herald's Inc., the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, or to the Bladen Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Moniema Grace Niemeyer was born December 20, 1935 on a farm 3 1/2 miles southwest of Bladen, Nebraska to Clarence F. and Grace (Tracy) Andresen. On Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936, she was baptized at the Methodist Church in Bladen by Rev. Hesseltine. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to a farm on the Little Blue River. She attended District #12, Harmony School, until completion of the 5th grade, and then transferred to Bladen Public School. She graduated at Bladen with the Class of 1953. She attended Kearney State Teachers' College and taught in the rural schools of Webster County and the public elementary school in Blue Hill, Nebraska. On October 17, 1954 she married Lyle D. Niemeyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. On April 3, 1955 she became a communicant member of Trinity. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10 - "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life." Lyle and Moniema lived on farms in the Red Cloud, Cowles and Bladen, Nebraska areas. Their union was blessed with three children. In 1992, they moved into their home in Bladen. Besides teaching, Moniema worked as a proofreader, copy writer, photographer, and typist at the office of the Blue Hill Leader, from 1962 to 1968, and again from 1986 to 2000; and as a para-professional for Educational Services Unit #9 from 1983 to 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Niemeyer; 3 sisters, Genevieve Cromer, Leila Harvey and Rose Fehr; 2 nephews, F. Eugene Cromer and Donald Cromer; and a niece, Anna Marie Cromer. Surviving are her husband of 55 years; her children and their spouses, Duane and Linda Niemeyer of Redlands, California; Debra and Bruce Garrelts of Kearney, Nebraska, and Daren and Buffy Niemeyer of Bladen; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Kari Garrelts, Jon and Heather Garrelts, Ty Garrelts, Brent and Keely Niemeyer, Krystal Niemeyer, A.J. Niemeyer and Grace Niemeyer; 4 great grandchildren Riley, Kelyn and Kiya Garrelts, and Scarlett Niemeyer; a sister-in-law Joyce Hawthorne, nieces, nephews and friends. Moniema was a very talented writer and vocal soloist. Her past-times were reading, corresponding with many friends, playing with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Lyle traveled throughout the United States on many vacations together. She especially loved God's mountains and also listening to the waves on ocean shores. She knew her Redeemer Lives.
