Bob, as he was know by all who knew him, grew up in the Guide Rock community after the death of his father. He was active in sports in high school and had many stories to tell.

He was united in marriage with Joan Stoner on August 27, 1951. Shortly after he was sent to Korea to serve his country as a United States Marine. Upon his return, the couple remained in Guide Rock to make their home. This union was blessed with two children, Robin ViAnn and Kim Lee.

He was also a longtime member of the Lions Club, the Guide Rock Cemetery Board, the V.F.W. and American Legion. In October of 2007, Bob moved to Westgate Manor in Blue Hill to make home and be closer to nephew and wife, Jerry and Glenda Shaw. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of the house, building furniture, and spent a lot of time fishing with his family. He especially enjoyed the weekday ritual of playing cards with the "gang" at the Barcelona Cafe.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Joan; brothers Glenn, Dean, George, Kenneth, Dan, and Junior; and sisters Marguerita, Evelyn, Gertrude, Dorothy, Beth, Viola, Maxine and Wauneta; and brother-in-law, Wendell Stoner.
