William Hakanson

William "Bill" Hakanson Jr., 90, passed away on October 26, 2011, in St. Louis, MO. Bill was born on May 14, 1921 in Edgar, Nebraska, to William Sr. and Lora Hakanson, now deceased. Bill served in the United States Navy as a pilot during World War II. In 1944 he married Fannie Mae "Penny" Burk. Together they raised five children and, after many years of farming, started a small business, Regal Lanes, in Edgar.

Bill is survived by his children, daughters, Cathy Paus and Vicki Abel; sons, Randy Hakanson, Steve Hakanson and Skip Hakanson; grandchildren, Jessica Paus, Aaron Paus, Carissa Swanwick, Becky Hakanson, Stephanie Weber, Lora Hakanson, Joey Hakanson, Sarah Olson, Christina Abel, and Mandy Binder; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Williams Funeral Home Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Burial with military honors will be held in the Edgar Cemetery. Pastor David King will be officiating.
