Kathryn "Kathy" Peterson

Kathryn "Kathy" Marie Peterson, 87, of Edgar, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska.

Kathy was born May 9th, 1935, to Leon and Emma (nee Duffey) Thomas in Ogallala, Nebraska. She grew up and attended school in Ogallala with her four brothers, Howard, Bill, Jim and Mike, and a sister, Jeanette. Kathy was united in marriage to Dale I. Peterson on August 25th, 1952. The couple was blessed with seven children, five girls and two boys. Dale and Kathy moved all over Nebraska as Dale had many different teaching careers. They later moved to Edgar where they would permanently call home. She was a long time employee at Kinnison's grocery store, Mac's Place Bar & Grill, and the Rose Brook Care Center, all in Edgar.

She served her community for many years as an EMT for Edgar Fire & Rescue for several years. A faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska, and a longtime member of the Edgar bowling league.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Howard, Bill, Jim and Mike; sister, Jeanette; daughter, Julie Thompson; former spouse Dale Peterson, and great granddaughter, Elliana Thompson.

Kathy's large family meant everything to her. Those left to cherish her memory are children, Susy Doyan and husband Rod of Omaha, Nebraska; Rodger Peterson and wife Patty of Juniata, Nebraska; Pam Hemji and husband Dave of Juniata, Nebraska; Cheryl Schultz and husband Lonnie of Juniata, Nebraska; Johnny Peterson and friend Eva James of Edgar, Nebraska; Angie Beck and husband Dave of Edgar, Nebraska; son-in-law, Allen Thompson of Dallas, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many close friends and neighbors in the Edgar community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 am, October 28, 2022, at the Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska with Fr. Jamie Hottovy officiating. The rosary will be recited one-half hour prior to the funeral.

Burial will be at the Edgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in care of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska.
